Jabra unveils new BT530 Bluetooth headset

updated 12:40 pm EDT, Wed August 13, 2008

Jabra BT530 headset

Headset manufacturer Jabra has scheduled another Bluetooth device, the BT530, to be released in September. Weighing only .35 ounces, the headset is claimed to be one of the smallest available, and capable of pairing multiple desk and cellular phones at the same time. The ear hook can be removed, and Jabra includes eight different sizes of "Eargel" to customize for a user's particular ear shape.

The headset is also the first to utilize new "Noise Blackout" cancellation technology. Use of two microphones allows the DSP chip to sort and filter background sounds, in theory resulting in clearer voice reproduction. The BT530 is additionally compatible with the Bluetooth 2.0 standard, including Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) and eSCO; talk time is listed as 5.5 hours, with maximum standby of 250. Pricing has been set at $100.

    I wonder

if we'll ever see a bluetooth headset worth owning...

Time to dump the old Jabra and go for something smaller. The one I have is GREAT at noise cancellation and has great clarity. I love it, but the size of the device made it a bit awkward. Something that works just as well but in smaller form is something I have been wishing for.
