Storyist 1.4 gets Office, Final Draft compatibility

updated 09:10 pm EDT, Tue August 12, 2008

Storyist 1.4 released

Storyist Software has updated its flagship story development application to include a host of features requested by users. Designed for novelists and screenwriters, Storyist 1.4 now includes a formatting inspector window, the ability to read and write in additional formats -- including Microsoft Word, Open Office and FInal Draft -- and improved import and export functions. New text tools automate tedious routine functions such as search-and-replace, changing font styles reformatting text.

The company says its customers are a "diverse group," and had been asking for improved compatibility with other writing workflows. To that end, Storyist 1.4 now includes support for Developer API, allowing developers to write their own additional format converters and workflow components. The software also includes support for Apple's Automator, users can set up custom automated workflows.

Storyist 1.4 is a Universal Binary requiring Mac OS X 10.4 or higher. The download version is available for $50; the download-plus-CD version cost $70.
