MobileMe update page ceased?

MobileMe updates stopped

After a rocky launch, the MobileMe status page was supposed to be updated "every other day or so," but a new update hasn't been issued in almost two weeks. MobileMe has been experiencing issues since its inception alongside the launch of iPhone 3G and firmware 2.0. After a few weeks of complaints, Apple finally assigned an employee, known in his posts as David G, to keep customers up to speed on what's happening with MobileMe. David wrote three updates, each came two days after the previous as promised. However, since the third update nothing has been posted. On July 29th the updated stated, "We have completed restoring Mail service, including historical messages, to all of the 1% affected." This would lead to the conclusion that it is possible Apple has stopped posting because all of the major errors have been fixed. This, however, is not likely the case as the last update ended with the statement "Next post later this week." Several weeks have now passed with no updates.

The other oddity is that email wasn't the source of problems for customers, yet it was the only topic that was mentioned in the updates by Apple. Forums are still seeing many posts outlining different problems related to MobileMe other features, including push services speed and calendar syncing. It seems as though Apple has gone quiet again.

File a missing persons report. Send out a search party. David G. needs our help.

maybe David G was responsible for the MobileMe launch and was summarily Steve'd.

    "Several weeks"?

Since when is 13 days "several weeks"? More like "several days".

Granted, the post did say "next post later this week", and given the high profile nature of this issue, I'd expect that a post would have occurred.

However, this page was created for the major email outage issue, not the numerous issues people have (and will always have) with various aspects of MobileMe.

That is NOT to say that Apple shouldn't have such an ongoing status page to talk about various issues and how they're addressing them.

Given the gravity of the MobileMe launch fiasco and the fact that Apple is known to be regrouping on MobileMe, I would hope they're also retooling how they'll communicate with customers on this issue.

Doubtful that anything will change given Apple's track record.

    MobileMe is a failure

.Mac had it's bugs but it worked. MobileMe has been an utter failure. As i sit here i can't even check my mail at me.com. It doesn't even load. 1% my a$$. Every time they have a problem I've been affected. I think the problems are much bigger than they're admitting. Between this and crappy iPhone 2.0 update I'm not feeling so good about Apple's quality control...

    MobileMe(ss)

Pretty cool since right now I am getting the following in Maill.app:

    Unable to Connect

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account “MobileMe” or try again.

The server error encountered was: The connection to the server “mail.mac.com” on port 993 timed out.

As well spinning wheel and "Checking for Mail..." on my iPhone. Go MobileMe(ss)!!!

    Same Here ~ MobileME Down

This is the first time I have had any MobileMe problems, but I also have no access to MobileMe at all from my iPhone, Desktop or Web at the moment.

    Weird

I haven't had any problems with MobileMe since the first 10 days of service. Actually it has worked very well, and I for one am happy with it.

Only 153 minutes in the q

I tried the chat option and I'm told "A MobileMe Support Representative will be with you in approximately
    153 minutes"
