HP preps two high-color LCDs

updated 09:35 am EDT, Mon August 11, 2008

HP LP2475w and LP2275w

HP this morning complemented the launch of its first quad-core notebook with two desktop LCDs that emphasize color accuracy. The 24-inch LP2475w can display 102 percent of the standard NTSC color gamut, making it more appropriate for artists and other visual editors; the 22-inch LP2275w partly overcomes the color limits of most same-size displays with 92 percent of the same color range.

Both also produce a relatively high 1,000:1 static contrast ratio and rotate into portrait mode for print layouts and other tall documents. HP hasn't listed full specifications but notes that the LP2275w supports DVI and the new DisplayPort format, hinting at similar support for the larger screen.

The smaller 22-inch display is already shipping for $459, while the 24-inch screen will be available for $649 in September. HP also plans to launch a DreamColor Advanced Profiling software package to help with color calibration, and will ship a Windows version this month for $349 with a Mac OS X equivalent ready in September.

    Have an HP

I've got a second 22inch monitor. The HPw2207. Easily rivals any of my apple monitors. Little touch to calibrate, but a good value over all.

Wish hp would get on the ball with it's drivers for peripherals though. It wouldn't effect the monitor much, but what they've got for their lazer printers blows. Simply a dumb strategy as the Mac user base grows.
