H2O Audio launches waterpoof iPod/iPhone armbands

AMPHIBX waterproof armband

H2O Audio on Monday announced the release of its new AMPHIBX waterproof armbands. The armband allows surfers, wakeboarders, triathletes or anyone who wants to use an iPod in water to safely do so. The new product offers full waterproof protection inspired by wetsuit technology for all iPods, including the Touch, as well as the new iPhone 3G. Most other MP3 players and phones will also fit comfortably into the armbands. H20 says the wide variety of similar-sized devices is the reason that the AMPHIBX line was not designed to fit specific model; instead, H2O Audio offers two different sizes models that allow a multitude of devices to fit in the cases. It also leaves room for future products to fit, potentially future-proofing the purchase.

"Apple is the industry's Big Kahuna and we are committed to supporting its iPod and iPhone innovations," explained H2O's CEO Kristian Rauhala, "However, with all of its new product introductions and model refinements, that is no simple task."

The AMPHIBX features a LatchTight locking closure which ensures a watertight seal up to 12ft/3.6 meters underwater. The armband also features a ClearTouch window that allows complete operation of touch and click wheel controls even when submerged in water. The case has been designed to grip comfortably to an arm and hold through any watersport stresses. If it were to come lose, the case floats with a device inside. The AMPHIBX waterproof armband series costs $70 for a medium armband and $80 for a large.
