Apple to announce iPhone nano in UK?
A new iPhone nano is in the works and will be available to customers in time for Christmas 2008. According to The Daily Mail, reports say the phone will be launched in the UK at a cost of up to £150. The phone will work on a pay-as-you-go plan and will allegedly be exclusively available from O2 in the UK. The Daily Mail cites industry sources for all of the information.
One claim hints that the iPhone nano will feature a touch wheel on the back and display on the front so that numbers will be dialed from behind. Sources also speculate that, "a cut down version, with the candy bar shape of iPod nano music players, would be a huge hit as a Christmas gift."

Yeah right
Yeah, people want to dial a number FROM THE BACK OF THE PHONE, then turn it over to make sure it was right, then turn it back over to correct it, then turn it back over to make sure it's right, then turn it back over to correct their correction..
I call BullSh*t on this one. Apple's all about usability. They wouldn't make that kind of gaffe.
Errm
You guys must not be familiar with the Daily Mail.
They make crap up AAAALLLL the time, well known for it. Daily Mail is a by-word for bullshit in the UK
Oh, the Daily Mail
well it MUST be true then, presumably for the sole use of immigrants to plan car bombs and steal our taxes. The Daily Hate is hardly a respectable paper, it just gives the most ignorant and bile-filled right-wingers what they want to hear.
I like this bit:
It "will be launched in the UK" - oh, and presumably only in the UK. Because, according to the Daily Mail's usual point of view, there is little else.
And this one's good too: "... with the candy bar shape of iPod nano music players". Yes, a candy bar you have sat on for a while.
u guys are all losers...
of course there will be a variation of the iphone in a much anticipated "nano" version. One that will be even cheaper than you think. Maybe free with contract. See, apple has introduced the iphone in markets with less GDP. So, they are on track. Some people are just not looking and putting the puzzle together. So for now talk your crap, and then you will shut up when it debuts. Wish I could show you the look on my face when this happens! haha
The Daily Mail
They thought Google Street View was "Orwellian." They even used the phrase "Big Brother" to describe it... It surprises me that this iPhone article wasn't accompanied by some racist, xenophobic or homophobic slur, or some allusion to governmental misconduct or something.
If you can't trust them to report a news story reasonably without HIGHLIGHTING unnecessary words IN capitals to stigmatise their READERS, why would anyone trust them with their "belief" that an unproven source is correct?
huh?
If you have a touch screen on the front, why would you need to dial using a scroll wheel on the back?
Now, if Apple added the scroll wheel to the back of the iPhone/touch so that they could be used without having to look at the device, that might work.
Macnn journo kiddies..
This is one of the more ridiculous news postings by the Macnn wannabe journalist kiddies for sure. There's so many reasons why this couldn't happen. Im amazed it was posted at all.
1, Dialling from the back?? Ridiculous.
2, Smaller screen means all those apps Apple and others made won't work.
3, UK only? Since when did the UK get any new Apple goodies first? I think not..
I don't doubt there will be variants of the iPhone in future. But I fail to see how this one is feasible.
Its 'News' like this which has been sending Macnn down the drain lately.
The nano iphone is old
The nano iphone is old news. There was speculation based on leaked pictures showing a smaller form factor. What is funny is all the ridicule of a rear scroll wheel. Why do you have to look at it? If you can feel it, you can use it.
I wouldn't buy one based on the described size now, but if they actually put one out who knows. When I first saw pictures of the latest nano, I thought it was ugly and impractical, but when I actually got to hold one, I was sold.
