Tap Tap million installs

Tap Tap Revenge, a rhythm-based game released for the iPhone and iPod touch through the App Store is expected to hit the 1 million installs milestone this weekend. This will only be the second application to reach the milestone, the first being Facebook. This milestone shows how quickly some applications have been able to grow in Apple's App Store. Tapulous CEO Bart Decrem estimates that there is a total install base of around 5-6 million iPhones and iPod touches running the 2.0 firmware. If Tap Tap Revenge reaches 1 million downloads it will mean that it is installed on around 20 percent of all devices.

Upon the release of Tap Tap, it only featured a handful of playable songs. Since then Tapulous has started releasing free downloadable tracks right through the game and almost 2.5 million songs have been downloaded already.

All of the tracks have been submitted by indie artists and now record labels are starting to take notice of Tap Tap Revenge's quickly growing install base. Decrem says that the company is now in talks with both indie and more well known artists in hopes to create a premium package of songs, which will likely be released as a separate game for a small fee.

    Similarities

It's a fun and challenging game which resembles Xbox Guitar Hero and the Wii Rockband. Great graphics and music though I wish there was more selection of songs.
