NetShare back on iTunes
After quickly grabbing the iPhone community spotlight, and consequently barred from the App Store, Nullriver's NetShare – an app designed to allow users to "tether" their iPhone to a computer – is again available for sale. While an explanation for the pull was not given, it most likely related to several wireless carriers' objections, since companies like AT&T offer a specific "tethering" data plan, providing users with on-computer data access through a wireless device.
Nullriver was equally in the dark on the matter, with a representative stating that the app "did not violate any of the Developer or App Store agreements."

Additional costs????

So if I buy this for $10, do I then share my data plan minutes (Unlimited) with my MacBook Pro? Or am I going to get a huge bill from AT&T for minutes usage at the end of the month?

I can see why

I can see why carriers may be reluctant to have this app out there. Sure they want to sell you a data card or tethering plan. However, the issue may be deeper. One thing is that cellular bandwidth is still somewhat limited in many areas compared to other forms of broadband. A single cell tower has a finite amount of bandwidth available. Cell phone providers primary concern is still going to be voice traffic at least for a while. They probably don't want to encourage people to use too much of a limited resource.
That being said, I think I might pick up a copy of NetShare. : )

Tethering Plan

AT&T does not have a tethering plan for the iPhone. If you have an iPhone you get no benefit if you want data - you have to pay the full $60/mo. Of course, if you had another smart phone, you could get a tethering plan.
I've picked this app up.

It's sort of there. It shows up when you search, but you get the "The item you've requested is not available in the US Store." message when you go to the page. & if you just click "Buy App" you get a similar message after the standard are you sure you want to purchase message.

Does it work w/ATT in US?
08/02, 01:19am reply
From the above posts it's unclear if it does and doesn't work with ATT in US. Can someone provide a step by step report if and how it worked out with ATT in US? That's where I'd need it.
Of course, it would be also interesting to know if US ATT Customer can use it with US iPhone abroad without insane charges?
And even without Tethering, I'd love to know how US ATT Customers do with iPhones when outside of US!
