IPhone in Indoneisia, rock video contest, reviews

In brief: Apple joins 80's rock band Asia for video contest, the iPhone may be coming to Indonesia, seyDoggy releases RapidWeaver theme, a strange photo found on a brand new ipohone, and MacNN posts reviews of Griffin's new FM adaptors for iPod and and Maxpower's new 802.11g USB stick. Griffin Technology's two latest accessories, the RoadTrip and iTrip Autopilot with SmartScan bring improved technology to the iPod FM adapter market. The RoadTrip is an iPod cradle with an FM tuner mounted on a small gooseneck that plugs into a car's cigarette lighter. The smaller iTrip AutoPilot -- which works with the iPhone as well as the iPod -- houses the FM adaptor in a small box without an iPod cradle. Both devices come with Griffin's SmartSound technology for cleaner sound. We have also reviewed Newer Technology's MaxPower 802.11 USB wireless adapter intended for Macs with older wireless cards, or no wireless access. The adapter works with 802.11n/b/g, and includes an optional cradle.

Apple, 80s supergroup Asia team up for video contest

The reunited supergroup Asia says it is giving away a MacBook Air and other prizes to fans who make the best video for the band's new single "An Extrordinary Life." Contestants can use Final Cut or "their preferred video editing software" to produce the videos. The prizes include a MacBook Air laser etched with the artwork from Asia's new album "Phoenix," a copy of Final Cut Studio, or a 4GB iPod Nano laser etched with band's logo. The contest celebrates the first new studio album from the group's original lineup in 25 years.

iPhone reportedly coming to Indonesia

3G Week says it is "almost official" that the iPhone 3G will be offered by Telkomsie in Indonesia. The blog says its report is based on a very reliable source -- who also happens to be managing editor of the Blog and a writer for CNet Asia. Budi Putra has reported for weeks that either Hutchison or Telcomsie would be providing the iPhone, but in his latest post Putra reportedly says it is "almost confirmed" that Telkomsie has won the rights for Indonesia.

RapidWeaver Theme targets online businesses

Developer seyDoggy has released cataLog Pro template for Realmac's RapidWeaver. With "triple layer navigation" cataLog Pro is designed for large projects such as online stores, corporate sites and large organizations. The template features tabbed navigation butttons, "designer colors," and "trendy" modern styling. The company says the template allows webmasters to control their sites through three "separate but very usable" levels of navigation. Catalog Pro is available online for $16.00.

What is that picture found on a new iPhone?

A blogger on RemoveTheLabels says his mother purchased an iphone recently and found something very odd while selecting the wallpaper. The phone came with three pictures -- two of which were blurry -- but one clearly showed what looks like the inside of an iPhone factory. The snapshot shows rows of unwrapped iPhones, some with stickers on them, inside some kind of plastic packaging. There's no word on where the photos were taken, but with the chronic shortage of iPhones it seems logical that the factory would be the most likely place to have spotted so many in a single location.
