Jobs takes off in Gulfstream jet more often

Jobs flight time

In recent months Steve Jobs has been flying more frequently around the world. When Jobs flies on his personal jet he bills Apple, and these expenses show up in the Apple quarterly reports. In the most recent June report, Steve's expenses jumped from $30,000 to $102,000. It is also notable that in the last three months of 2007, Jobs racked up $550,00 in expenses. These peaks in travel time for Jobs show a strong sign that he is involved in face-to-face discussions with potential partners, assuring investors of his health admist concerns that have hurt the stock.

While it is unclear as the to specific nature of the trips, Jobs may be integral in negotiating with carriers to bring the iPhone 3G to more countries. Apple introduced the iPhone 3G on July 11 in 21 countries; France became the 22nd country to sell the revamped smart phone on July 17. The company said that the latest iPhone would go on sale in 20 additional countries by August 22.

It could also have something to do with the new mysterious product that Apple has referred to as a "future product transition". Unfortunately there is no real evidence as to what Jobs recent spike in travel is related to, but the spikes do show that Jobs is working on something that requires his frequent involvement.

frequency or cost?

he might be flying somewhat more frequently, but the cost of jet fuel is going up just as much as gasoline lately. this may be a significant contributor to the cost of making these trips as well!

Whose distortion field?

So is Jobs in Gore's reality distortion field of green-elitist exemptions from carbon footprints or is it the other way around. I get confused.

Definitely costs

Look at the price of fuel, as scottnichol suggests. That explains at least half the cost increase. After that, a hand full of trips would eat up the remaining cost. This isn't news.

It's nice to see...

I was going to comment about the usual environmental hypocrites saying "you need to unplug your can opener" and "use only one sheet of toilet paper" or "ride a bike or walk", to save the planet comments we hear from the idiots who think the world will be in environmental ruins in ten years, which wasn't that being spouted five years ago, in which case, by my math, we only have five left... Anyway while not against recycling, etc., I came to rag but I see, this "going green" and buying carbon credits to offset your energy wastefulness but is the liberal's way of thinking they have paid off their waste in the form of "Carbon Credit" environmental BS is not fooling a lot of you and that's nice to see.
