Kingston adds 16GB DataTraveler drives, intros 101

Kingston Technologies on Wednesday announced its release of 16GB versions of two of its DataTraveler USB drives, the DT400 and DT100. At the same time, the company released a new drive, the DT101, available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities. The new flagship of the range, the 16GB DT400 with MigoSync, lets users recreate the email and Internet browser settings on computers other than their own while doubling its storage capacity.

The DT400 USB drive's MigoSync software will automatically synchronize the settings once it's plugged in to the host computer. Files are read at speeds up to 20MBps and can be written at 10MBps. The pre-loaded SecureTraveler program lets users create a password-protected Privacy Zone on the DT400. Furthermore, the drive is Windows ReadyBoost-ready, which allows it to be used for boosting a computer's RAM memory. Operating systems compatible with the DT400 include Windows Vista, XP and 2000, as well as Mac OS 10.2.x and higher. The 2GB DT400 starts at $24, while the top-range 16GB unit is priced at $196.

The DT100 is a simple and quick storage drive, which features a cap-less, retractable USB 2.0 port. It is compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 2000, as well as Mac OS X 10.3.x and above and Linux v.2.6.x and above. It is available in black, red and blue, and in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and new 16GB sizes. Prices range from $14 to $85.

The new DataTraveler 101 can be had in cyan, pink and yellow, in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities. A password protected folder can be created on the DT101 thanks to the included SecureTraveler software which works only with Windows systems. OS support is the same as the DT100. Pricing ranges from $14 to $44.
