Apple seen ordering 20% more MacBooks

Apple More MacBooks

A rush in component orders hints at a major increase in Apple's notebook production during the summer, says the Taiwan-area newspaper Commercial Times. The company is reportedly ordering 20 percent more of the circuit boards it needs for notebooks than it has in the spring, pointing to an according increase in production for the MacBooks themselves. Four companies in Taiwan alone are seeing the benefit, the report claims.

The news follows apparent confirmation of a redesigned MacBook Pro case and comes amid reports that both the high-end system and regular MacBooks are likely to see redesigned versions later this year, both of which are likely to use Intel's just-unveiled Centrino 2 mobile platform for a faster 1,066MHz system bus, better power efficiency, and more advanced integrated graphics.
