Software iPhone Jbreak?
The iPhone Dev Team says it had become the first to jailbreak an iPhone 3G. In a posting just a few hours ago on its blog, the group showed a picture of its "Pwnage Tool" jail-breaking software for the iPhone and iPod Touch with a new addition -- support for the 3G. The posting says "this is not a release announcement, but we are working hard," apparently on a final version of the software.
A video posted on the iPhone Dev Team blog shows what appears to be a MacBook running code to access the root files of an iPhone 3G. The Team announced earlier that phones jail-broken with Pwnage Tool 2.0 will still be able to access iTunes and the AppStore, and that Microsoft Exchange support will not be affected. The group has yet to actually demonstrate a working jailbroken 3G, but with its earlier successes there is reason to think the report is credible.
The iPhone Development Team says Pwnage Tool 2.0 will allow users to easily add third-party applications to their devices, and access its file system. There's no exact word on when the application will be released, although it is likely within the next couple of weeks.

hmmm...
I'm still not sure if I want a jailbroken iPhone 3g or if I want to wait and see what Android will bring...
I'm still leaning toward Android - I think I'd rather have a phone designed from the ground up to be open, rather than having to patch it.
