Logitech DF Wireless Wheel

Logitech is expanding its game controller lineup for E3 with new PlayStation 3 and Wii peripherals. The Driving Force Wireless wheel is Logitech's first to go without a direct connection to the Sony console and uses a custom 2.4GHz adapter and transmitter that are said to be lag-free. The device is built to never need an elaborate setup to be comfortable for driving; a built-in rest lets the new wheel sit on a lap, armrest, or most other common gaming spots without having to construct a special driving environment.

The driving input uses the same force feedback technology as used by earlier models and should work with many common racing games on both the PS3 as well as the PS2, including the Gran Turismo series and many EA racers. It ships in August for $100.

Gamers who prefer Nintendo also have access today to the Cordless Keyboard for Wii, a similarly 2.4GHz wireless device for those who regularly use the Wii's Internet Channel for browsing or otherwise expect to type often. It sports dedicated Wii control keys and is powered solely by AA batteries. A release date isn't set, though the keyboard should ship soon for $50.

Additionally, Logitech has unveiled hard plastic PlayGear Pocket cases for the PSP and the Nintendo DS Lite for travel; the PSP case is large enough to allow users with a battery pack to store the handheld. Both are due in August at $15 (PSP) and $20 (DS Lite).
