Cover Stream 2.2 released
Snarb.tk has released v2.2 of Cover Stream, its extension software for iTunes. The app makes access to Cover Flow more convenient by isolating it from iTunes, and making use possible without having to switch apps. Users can still filter playlists and run keyword searches, as well as run in a full-screen mode, which supports control with Apple's IR remote. Alternately, various hotkeys can be assigned.
The central feature of v2.2 is the Jukebox mode, which is said to operate similarly to iTunes' Party Shuffle. The option lets people quickly add tracks to a playlist, and then skip or jump through the queue at will. Elsewhere in the app lyrics are now supported, and a new Desktop Controller panel appears whenever users right-click on artwork. Album covers can be moved to a separate display, and the program can bet set to launch at the same time as iTunes.
Cover Stream requires Mac OS X 10.5 and iTunes 7.5, and costs $24.
