updated 04:00 pm EDT, Fri July 11, 2008

Fone2Phone 2.1 ships

nova media has released v2.1 of Fone2Phone, its data migration utility. The software is geared especially for cellphones, and is used to save information from various Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericsson units for copying to other devices. Some data that can be saved includes contacts, notes, schedules and bookmarks. Users can also transfer media including photos, music and video.

If both a Mac and an earlier phone are Bluetooth-enabled, data can be transferred wirelessly. Later destination devices can include not just conventional phones, but iPods and iPhones; new to v2.1 is support for the iPhone 3G, just released today. The software requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later, and costs $20. A free demo is also available.
