Vodafone offers iPhone for US$150 in New Zealand

Vodafone New Zealand revealed on Monday that the iPhone 3G in New Zealand will be priced at $199NZD (around USD$150) when purchased with a 24-month contract. With stocks expected to be "strictly limited," the company has to disclose the its rate plans for the new device, but is expected to announce a significant tariff restructuring in the next few days, moving away from the traditionally high data costs seen in the country. Previous price plans have seen charges of up to NZD$10 per 1MB of data, with dedicated 200MB bundles costing NZD$35, however, this is expected to drop to a more manageable cost of around NZD$10 per 10MB used for casual users. Like O2 in the UK, Vodaphone is promising that will be able to pre-order the iPhone 3G in the next few days.

for a lousy 1 gb yes 1 gb of data
the 16gb is 349 on this contract!

Today (Tuesday 8th July 08) Vodafone NZ (www.vodafone.co.nz/iPhone) has officially lifted the lid off its iPhone plan pricing.
WTF!!! How on earth do these people think of these prices...
Why should we put up with these thieving corporate monkeys.
Please sign this petition if you agree that Vodafone NZ are trying to rip-off the general public of New Zealand and should drastically reduce there pricing plans for real people.

Have you seen the plans in New Zealand. The NZ Plans are Worse than Canada - who has that kind of money. $250NZD per month for the 'best' plan which is only 600mins 600txt and 1GB data. $250NZD = $190USD. Watch this video of Vodafone NZ getting SLAMMED on national TV over their obscene pricing.
