Vaja iPhone 3G cases

Accessory maker Vaja has announced four new high-end cases for the iPhone 3G. All of the cases are made of leather, and must be handcrafted, a process which takes anywhere between 15 and 45 days. Buyers can however pick from dozens of colors, and add customization such as a belt clip and/or custom laser engravings.

Two of these are in the ivolution series, the SP and the Top; these differ mainly cosmetically, as the Top lacks a stripe. Both use a flipping lid to safeguard the screen and the dock connector, but always provide access to features such as the camera, headphone jack, and volume and vibration controls. Prices start at $75 for the Top, and $85 for the SP.

The other cases -- the classic Retro Slim Bag and classic Pouch -- are less expensive, but do not allow an iPhone to be used while still protected. The Pouch has a sealing lid and begins at $65, while the Slim Bag is only $45, but omits both a lid and a belt clip.
