T-Mobile Shadow II, Wi-Fi calling confirmed, HTC-made

T-Mobile's Shadow II phone is real and will represent a first for Windows Mobile, claims an insider source. The device is now thought to be made by HTC and will be the first cellphone with the Microsoft to support cell-to-Wi-Fi call bridging when it sees use on T-Mobile's HotSpot@Home service, letting subscribers make unlimited calls from Wi-Fi that carry over to the cell network without interruptions.

The new report suggests a later release date than shown in a leaked roadmap, however, and would have the Shadow II appear in the fall rather than August. Most other details of the phone also remain vague and remain limited to a known and possibly touch-sensitive scroll wheel as well as hooks into T-Mobile's MyFaves service. A Shadow III device has also been claimed but isn't mentioned as part of the new source.
