O2 Pay and Go 3G iPhone

O2 will offer the 3G iPhone as a Pay & Go option - the 8GB device available for 300, the 16GB for 400 - and will include six months of unlimited on-device browsing. Unlimited browsing after the initial six months costs an additional 10 per month, while using the O2's standard Pay & Go plans. Users will be able to "top up" their account with rates varying from 10 to 30, with each tier offering anywhere between 500 to unlimited minutes, and 300 to unlimited in-country text messages.

Users over 16 are eligible for in-store purchase, while online orders require the user to be 18 or older. O2 currently has registration a list for those interested in obtaining an iPhone on launch day.

If Apple/AT&T made a similar offer here in the States they wouldn't be able to produce enough iPhones to keep up with demand.
