T-Mobile signs deal with Gravis for German iPhone?

updated 11:00 am EDT, Mon June 23, 2008

Gravis iPhone 3G deal

Germany's T-Mobile, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has signed a deal to sell the iPhone 3G through a local reseller, an industry publication reports. People in DT's "business circles" are said to have acknowledged a deal with Gravis, a computer vendor which already sells a number of Apple products including Macs and iPod and iPhone accessories. There is no mention of Apple involvement in any negotiations, despite the company's usual insistence on control of all sales.

iPhones sold through Gravis would still have to be attached to a T-Mobile subscription. The latter is also said to be negotiating deals with vendors like Saturn and Media Markt, but these are incomplete; the major obstacle is said to be the companies' relationship to Debitel, currently an exclusive partner in selling phone contracts.
