Tuneconnect 2.1 offers free iTunes control

updated 10:25 am EDT, Mon June 16, 2008

Tuneconnect 2.1 released

TuneConnect 2.1 is a re-written revision of the open-source 'iTunes remote' software for Mac OS X. Written in 100 percent native code, Tuneconnect 2.1 uses a 'specially developed 'neural iTunes HTTP API' called Tunage to allow many different types of devices to share iTunes information, offering almost complete control of iTunes across a network. Version 2.1 of the web-based utility fixes some of the bugs that cropped up in the initial release and adds support for a small handful of the most-requested features from users.

Extensively re-written with a fast and easy to use interface designed primarily for OS X Leopard, Tuneconnect claims to allow users to: "play, pause, jog through music, choose new music to play, turn on visualizations, modify equalizer settings and even queue songs for Party Shuffle" in iTunes. Tuneconnect 2.1 also comes with built-in support for Last.fm, giving users the option to share their iTunes music taste around the world.

Available for Mac OS X 10.4 or later (10.5 Leopard recommended), Tuneconnect 2.1 is available now from tuneconnect.net, and is free of charge.
