Sherlock Holmes game

Macgamestore on Thursday released The Lost Cases Of Sherlock Holmes, a new title for Mac OS X from Dark Legacy Interactive. The first computer game officially licensed by the Conan Doyle Estate, players take on the role of legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and his venerable sidekick Dr Watson, sleuthing their way through 16 linked murder mysteries, against the immersive backdrop of a historically accurate Victorian London.

Filled with a host of familiar faces and locations from Conan Doyle's original books, as well as over 100 historical characters, players are promised a rich variety of puzzles and mini-games, ranging from anagrams, Sudoku, picture memory games, finding hidden objects to cryptograms.

With a compelling and extensive story arc, increasingly difficult cases to investigate, and a 'save game' feature allowing players to save their progress between sessions, the Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes promises hours of varied gameplay for both dedicated Holmes fans, as well as gamers new to the world of the fictional detective.

Pricing is set at $20, and requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later. A free 60 minute trial version of the game is also available for download from Macgamestore.

    (sigh)

I was about to go over and check out the demo, but saw it was MacIntel only. Hopefully a Universal or PPC version will be forthcoming (though I doubt it)...
