Call of Duty 4 delayed

Aspyr, a developer well-known for porting Windows games to the Mac, has announced that its conversion of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has been delayed. The title was originally slated to ship in early- to mid-summer, but is now said to have been "pushed back slightly," and should ship sometime in the third quarter of 2008. It is expected to go on preorder soon for $50.

A sequel to Activision's earlier, World War II-themed first-person shooters, CoD4 makes a transition to the present era, and drops players into a fictional war in the Middle East. Gamers continue to take on multiple perspectives, switching between a US Marine and a British SAS operative. The game also features extensive online play, though Aspyr has not confirmed the limits of the Mac version.

    What did you expect?

This is Aspyr we're talking about.. They always over-promise and under-perform. Just do yourself the favor and take advantage of that shiny Bootcamp button..

    and...

while they won't say if it's universal or intel only, you can bet your bottom dollar it's going to be intel only, shutting out millions and millions of PPC machines. While I have yet to go intel, it will happen and you can bet I'm going to get what will probably be 2/3-1/2 the price pc version to run with boot camp.

    Mac gaming is dead...

I wanted too long for the Mac to becoming a decent gaming platform, and I've just given up. I've broken down and installed Windows on my Mac Pro for gaming purposes. I'm tired of paying $50 for a year late Mac port. I now enjoy current PC games on my Mac Pro through Boot Camp. Good performance and no limitations.
