Wednesday, May 28thTiVo set to offer Disney Studios videos on demand
DVR provider TiVo on Wednesday announced it will offer videos on demand from the Walt Disney Studios library, with some of the content made available in high-definition. The service will be available for all subscribers with Internet-ready Series2 and Series3 terminals via CinemaNow.
TiVo made it clear movies in standard definition will be available for a 24-hour period, although how many HD movies will be available and if the timeframe for watching them will differ from the SD offerings was not specified.
Critics believe the CinemaNow-provided Disney-ABC rentals will likely clutter up TiVo's already busy user interface, as the company also offers ready-to-download rentals via Amazon Unbox, Music Choice and some 50 other providers. The terms nonetheless give TiVo a competitive edge over rival devices such as the Apple TV and Vudu, which both offer similar movie features but are locked into single providers for their paid movie and TV show content.
A release date for the service was not announced, although it may just coincide with the previously reported YouTube access, officially announced as launching this summer.

because people would rather have limited choice then a cluttered interface...
And 24 whole hours! Wow! Good thing Disney doesn't have a lot of movies for kids, who are prone to not being able to watch a movie in a single sitting at night. Oh, wait....
