In brief: We have posted a review of DeskUNPDF, Lingoport is offering classes on writing globalized Mac apps, Apple came in 11th in Web traffic in April, and the Lasso Wiki source code has been released ... We have posted a review of DeskUNPDF for Mac from Docudesk is a very easy to use utility that converts Adobe PDF files into a modifiable form. You can edit, rearrange, add, or delete text, plus place tabular data into Excel spread sheets. You can also export the imbedded graphics. You can also take PDFs that contain spreadsheet and database data and extract that data as Coma Separated Values (CSV) and import it into an Excel spreadsheet. You can also import the information into a database.

Creating globalized Mac code

Lingoport, and ENLASO Corporation, a provider of translation and localization solutions, today announced that the two companies will present a live training course on Thursday, June 12th, 2008, titled "Global-Ready Applications: Programming for the World." The course, taught by Cary Clark, Lingoport's Globalization Architect, features expert advice on how Mac software developers can successfully take on software globalization projects with millions of lines of code and transform them into global-ready assets. The 2-hour live online course introduces engineers and technical managers to software internationalization engineering for efficient localization.

Apple 11th in Web traffic

comScore, has released analysis of U.S. consumer activity at top online properties for April 2008 from its comScore Media Metrix service. Google Sites captured the top position in the Top Properties ranking for the first time, reaching 141 million Americans in April. Yahoo! Sites ranked second with 140.6 million visitors, followed by Microsoft Sites with 121.2 million visitors. Superpages.com Network and CareerBuilder LLC both jumped eight spots in the ranking to positions 18 and 30, respectively. Apple Inc. came in 11th, right behind the Time Warner (excluding AOL), with 47,849,000 unique visitors.

Lasso Wiki Source Code Released

The Lasso Wiki source code, the basis for the LassoTech Web site, has been released to the public and may now be used for creating your own sites. The code can be used to deploy a stand-alone Wiki site or to add a Wiki sub-folder to an existing site. LassoSoft has also announced the release of Lasso Professional 8.5.6 Beta 1. This update includes an important security update, minor fixes, and documentation updates.
