IOGEAR launches networked USB hub for device sharing

IOGEAR on Monday announced the launch of its USB Net ShareStation device, which allows USB device sharing across a network. The USB Net ShareStation allows any combination of up to four hard drives, flash drivers, printers, speakers or webcams to be shared and controlled between networked computers with the help of a USB 2.0 hub.

The product is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista operating systems, and can automatically detect printers through its 10/100Base-T port. Any IP network connected computer can then scan, fax or print documents through the device's Multi-Function Printer sharing. Devices can be connected through a wireless hub as well, though some applications, such as streaming music, will require a wired connection for suitable transfer speeds to prevent dropouts.

The product is available now at major retailers and on IOGEAR's web store for nearly $80.
