Recycled iPhone car holder
iPhone enthusiast Bernat Alsina decided to construct an iPhone Car Mounting Bracket using a couple household items, giving him the ability to mount his iPhone or iPod Touch right on the dashboard of the car for easy access while driving. In seven somewhat simple steps Bernat takes a hodgepodge of plastic, velcro, and glue and turns it into something useful. This is not an idea that has never been seen before but the simplicity of the creator's Spanish/broken English step-by-step walkthrough and the low cost factor (recyclable materials) helps his mounting kit to stand out.
Basically all one needs to do to create this car mounting kit is: cut some plastic into small brackets, attach said brackets to another piece of plastic, glue heavy-duty velcro onto the back of the plastic, and the last step is to insert the iPhone into the final product. As of today Bernat has not announced plans to distribute his car bracket on a large scale, but does say that anyone can build the product in just a few minutes.

Here's a better way

I did mine with an BT earpiece dock. usb cord goes to a cigarette lighter usb power port, headphone socket is hooked up to an interface from pie.net to act as an audio source. I figured the only place I was going to use the headset was in the car, so why not charge it there? Apple could have made it easier with a removable dock cord/30 pin plug like the included iPhone dock.Installed photo here: http://tinyurl.com/4lvkl7

Not bad looking.
He lost me when I saw the Velcro stuck to the back of his iPhone.
WTF?!?!?!! That's a KLUDGE, not a solution!

Isn't that the plastic piece the iPhone arrived in?
I prefer my cars cup holder which looks like a part of my car.
