NY Post: Apple 'seriously' pursuing Wall St. store

Apple Wall St. shop plans

Apple is focusing in its hunt for an additional New York City store, according to the New York Post. "Sources" tell the newspaper that after having considered the linked locations of 15 Broad Street and 23 Wall Street, it is now concentrating on the latter, and in the middle of serious leasing negotiations with Robert K. Futterman and Associates. A representative for Apple at RKF, Karen Bellantoni, has declined to comment on the issue.

If Apple does complete a deal, the company will occupy an extremely expensive property. Area retail rents are said to be approaching $500 per square foot, and the building at 23 Wall measures 12,500 square feet; it is further said to have historical value, having once been the headquarters of arch-capitalist J.P. Morgan. A famous bombing of the location in 1920 also killed 30 people, and left damage on the outside which remains to this day.
