Djay 2.1 adds multi-touch trackpad support
Algoriddim on Tuesday unveiled Djay 2.1, a major update to the company's digital turntable software that adds compatibility with Apple's multi-touch trackpads on the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Djay uses different sets of finger gestures to control the interface, allowing users to scratch tracks, apply effects, and crossfade between the two virtual tables. Algoriddim is selling Djay 2.1 from its website for $50, and is available now.
The company gave a brief list of gestures as examples, illustrating that two fingers horizontally sliding would operate the crossfader, while two fingers vertically scrolling would trigger scratches that are completely in sync with the gestures. The motions can also be altered by using modifier keys to provide scrubbing, pitch bending, and so on.
While the software is tuned for the new multi-touch trackpads in the newer portables, users who own late-model iBooks and PowerBooks, or any portable featuring two-finger scrolling can also take advantage of most of the actions. Any gestures that require three or more fingers require multi-touch enabled portables.
