Samsung intros i200 phone

Samsung on Wednesday announced the release of its newest bar-style smartphone, the i200. The tri-band GSM phone is aimed at business professionals with its use of the Windows Mobile 6.1 OS with Office Mobile. For wireless data transfer or Internet capability, the i200 supports HSDPA and EDGE data networks.

The i200 takes advantage of its data network options with unified email and SMS/MMS management, featuring HTML-format email and cut, copy and paste shortcuts for quick edits. The company's interface is displayed on the i200's 2.3-inch 230x320 screen.

The i200 holds 25MB of internal memory, with a microSD card slot providing expansion options for playback of MP3, WMA, AAC and MPEG4 audio or video files or photos and videos taken from its 2-megapixel camera. Wireless transfer from other mobile devices is accomplished via Bluetooth 2.0 support.

First glimpsed at MWC in February, the Samsung i200 is due to launch in Europe in June and expand to other markets with a month. No pricing has been revealed, though it is expected to be in the equivalent $290 range. [via Akihabara]
