EVGA ships new USB graphics adapters

Peripheral maker EVGA says it has begun shipping a new line of graphics adapters, the UV Plus+ series. The two current units connect various displays to a computer through USB; both DVI and VGA monitor inputs are supported, thanks in part to a bundled DVI-to-VGA adapter. Through DisplayLink technology, people can use up to four monitors simultaneously, in primary, mirrored or extended modes. This does, however, require a separate adapter for each screen.

The adapters do not have any onboard GPU processing, but nevertheless support Windows Vista and its Aero technology, as well as Windows XP systems. The UV12 supports resolutions up to 1280x1024 in 4:3, or 1440x900 in widescreen; the UV16 is capable of 1600x1200 or 1680x1050. No prices are currently public, but EVGA says they should be "well below $100."

Okay, but do they support Mac OSX, or even Widows on Apple hardware? If not, why are they of interest on macnn?
