Rogers first to carry Nokia N95 8GB in North America

Nokia N95 8GB at Rogers

Rogers today confirmed one of two key rumors concerning its phone lineup for the spring by announcing it would carry the Nokia N95 8GB. The Canadian provider is the first in North America to officially stock the smartphone and takes advantage of the phone's 3G support for more than is possible on AT&T in the US, including Rogers' VISION two-way video calling service (courtesy of its front camera) and access to the carrier's music store and video streaming services.

The all-black phone otherwise largely keeps to the reference North America Model (NAM) specs of the unlocked version available in both Canada and the US, with true GPS, Wi-Fi, and dedicated media playback controls in hardware and software.

In an unusual turn for Rogers, the phone will qualify for Rogers' $7 monthly unlimited data browsing plan when it goes on sale as of May 6th. The phone will sell for $400 along with a three-year contract and hasn't yet received a publicized contract-free price, though this is expected to reach $700 or higher given the $750 US pricing for an unlocked model.
