BlackBerry Storm Rumor
Research in Motion has likely already picked out the name for its touchscreen BlackBerry, say those investigating the company's web practices. The site address BlackBerryStorm.com has already been registered by a confidential party as of late 2007 and has since by followed by registrations of several international and mobile domains, suggesting an active attempt by RIM to secure the names before an official launch.
The naming would be unusual for the phone, which is likely to enter RIM's high-end lineup and would join phones that have so far been left to the company's typical numbers-only naming scheme; only home-oriented phones have so far been given alphabetical names, such as the Curve and the Pearl. The touch device, however, is believed to blur the lines for the BlackBerry maker and may be targeted equally at both audiences.
Other phones are less likely candidates, with the 3G-capable BlackBerry 9000 likely to keep its name and aim at a professional crowd while the Kickstart flip will cater to home users.
