WiebeTech debuts UltraDock HDD adapter

updated 02:50 pm EDT, Mon April 28, 2008

UltraDock HDD adapter

WiebeTech has announced a new hard drive adapter, the UltraDock. Intended mainly for professionals, the adapter lets users connect "bare" drives to a computer externally, in this case both 3.5-inch IDE/PATA drives and 2.5/3.5-inch SATA disks. Users can connect to a computer using eSATA, USB 2.0 or FireWire 400 ports, or one of two FireWire 800 connections.

Seven LEDs update on the status of the adapter, and it is compatible with Mac, Windows and Linux systems, so long as drives used are appropriately formatted. Power is supplied either through a 12V AC adapter or a 5V, four-pin molex cable. WiebeTech is selling the UltraDock for $200.
