LG unveils Secret as latest Black Label phone

LG Secret Phone

As promised, LG this morning took the covers from its next phone in the Black Label series. The Secret (KF750) follows in the steps of the Chocolate and Shine, but focuses as much on its craftsmanship as it does on specifications. The slider design is partly made of carbon fiber that increases the strength of the phone body without affecting weight; tempered glass protects the LCD while also reportedly improving its image quality. A touch-sensitive navigation pad both adds to the upscale feel and also prevents broken buttons.

The construction also allows LG to slim down the phone without sacrificing its internals: the Secret is the thinnest phone with a 5-megapixel camera at 0.46 inches deep and supports HSDPA Internet access up to 3.6Mbps. It also shares a relatively powerful video engine with the same 120 frames per second capture option as the considerably thicker Viewty, and plays back DivX videos in addition to more typical mobile video formats such as MPEG-4.

An accelerometer is built into the phone and enables both an auto-switch to a widescreen view in the normal interface and entertainment functions: like upcoming iPhone software, games can be controlled simply by tilting or shaking the phone.

LG rounds out the design with a unique Bluetooth auto-sync feature for contacts and other data. The company launches the Secret first in Europe and will follow next with Asian launches; a North American version hasn't been discussed but is likely at a later date given the availability of both the Chocolate and Shine in the region.
