Microsoft says iPhone won't catch Windows Mobile 6.1

Microsoft is extremely confident that Apple will not catch up to it in smartphone sales, noting that it had shifted more licenses of Windows Mobile than both Apple and RIM combined in the past year. According to Pocket-lint.co.uk, the announcement came as part of an interview with group product manager for Microsoft's mobile communications department Scott Rockfield when asked about how the company expects to keep ahead of competitors.

"We are not at all worried. We think we've got the one mobile platform you'll use for the rest of your life," said Rockfield. "As for Google and Android we are still waiting for what they are going to do."

"Microsoft says iPhone won't catch Windows Mobile 6.1" they have their head in the sand.

Hey Microsoft ... Apple is behind you because they already did 2 laps around you ... your actually at the back of the race and don't know it yet.

Whenever you hear the incumbent crying BUT we sell more than they do then you know the race is lost .... singing your praises on the fact that you currently sell more rather than what you sell and why it's the best is the first sign of trouble.

MS has got their partners to buy more licenses than RIM and Apple combined.

I think that now is the time to show the comments made by Mr. Rockfield's boss, Mr. Ballmer. It seems to me that the Microsoft executive staff has dismissed Apple products before (e.g. iPod vs. Zune, iPhone at announcement, Mac for its entire life).

"we've got the one mobile platform you'll use for the rest of your life", 'if we have anything to say about it'- I think that's what he forgot to add at the end of his statement.

If RIM are the market leaders with 40+%, how can MS have 'shifted' more licences?

I've used Windows Mobile. I hated Windows Mobile. If I ever see Windows Mobile again on my phone I will throw it in the air and scream, "Nooooooo!"

This guy is an idiot and needs to say such crap otherwise he gets beheaded. If MS makes a Windows Mobile 7 they will say this exact same thing.
