Friday, March 28thAT&T unveils Mobile TV service, LG Vu, Samsung Access
AT&T today unveiled plans for AT&T Mobile TV, a wireless television broadcast system provided by MediaFLO USA, and also mentioned the addition of the LG Vu and Samsung Access handsets in light of the announcement. AT&T Mobile TV will include two as-of-yet unnamed exclusive channels, in addition to Comedy Central, MTV, NBC 2GO and News2Go, and Nickelodeon, among others. AT&T did not specify when the service would be available.
"By making the FLO TV service available to AT&T customers, the nation's largest wireless carrier, MediaFLO USA continues to expand our award winning FLO TV service to consumers across the country," said Gina Lombardi, president of MediaFLO USA. "We look forward to working closely with AT&T to continue the momentum of making mobile TV a staple for more consumers."
The LG Vu, already unveiled for the Rogers Wireless network in Canada, is a touchscreen-based phone that rivals the iPhone. It combines many of the same features – a touchscreen, multimedia access, a 2.0-megapixel camera, and Bluetooth – and is also designed to work with AT&T's Mobile TV service.
Little is known about the Samsung Access. AT&T bills the phone as having a large landscape display with a built-in antenna, as well as a camera, external stereo speakers, stereo Bluetooth, AT&T Music and CV capabilities. The Access will also be compatible with the AT&T Mobile TV service.
