LG's LH2300 preempts Korean iPhone

LG LH2300

LG's Korean label CYON (high-bandwidth site) today pointed to what it believes is the future of phones with the release of the LH2300. While almost entirely dominated by its touchscreen like some newer LG phones, the new device is rare for including a wide VGA (800x480) 3-inch display sharp enough for DVD-level playback and for viewing websites at a resolution far closer to their native display. The 3G phone will also have quicker access to its web features with a key that jumps to the browser and a jogwheel for rapidly scrolling through pages without a complex onscreen interface.

LG also promises a very media-focused device with a 3-megapixel camera at the back (plus front camera for video calls), a T-DMB tuner for picking up digital over-the-air TV in its native country, and a microSD card slot for media storage. "Grape Wine" and "Navy Blue" versions of the LH2300 will be available in early April through LG's own carrier LG TeleCom, where it will sell for between $594 and $694 in local currency.

LG has not said whether the device will be available in other countries, though close cousins such as the AT&T Vu and Verizon VX9700 are expected to come soon.

    Me Too!

Another me too product that is actually quite ugly!

How is this more advanced than the iPhone.

Also, to "preempt" something denotes that you have stopped it from happening.... as in American Idol was preempted by the Preseident's speech last night.

Since Apple has not announced a roll out in Korea.... how can LG delay it in being sold? Only Apple or government intervention can "preempt" Apple once they decide to sell the iPhone in that market.

    iPhone Patented...

Steve said about the iPhone... "and boy have we patented it". Really????

Then why are all these other phone manufacturers come out with either their iPhone killer or "their" version of the iPhone... coming with touchscreen... full version of the web... similar design in the case of some models...

Sure competition is fine and it helps to keep Apple's products that more advanced, but where is Apple's lawsuits for patent infringements?

what a piece of c***. A touch screen device that needs a jog wheel? no thanks. iPhone is much better.

    Screen Resolution

Hmmm, a device that has all those capabilities and a much better screen resolution....and the best the apple fanboy can come up with is that it is "ugly"

and preempt means to take the place of or have precedence over, not to necessarily stop something.

apple fanboyz just cannot accept that something (not necessarily this, but maybe) can do better than the iPhone.

    Not bad...

It has a better resolution, better camera, 3G and can make video calls. Of course we haven't seen the interface in operation but I feel it gives the iPhone a run for it's money, especially if it's given away for free on contract.

    lets take into account

that our edge network probably would not support video conferencing, hence why there is no camera on the front, although it would be a nice addition for taking pictures while looking at the screen. Im not so sure as what the resolution on our iPhone is ,but considering that it has been out around 9-10 months, surely they could have thought of some selling point to look attractive to buyers that do not have the iPhone in their country. To me it basically comes down to this, you either have an iPhone or any apple product which defines minimalism based on appearance and compared to their counter parts, they actually perform in a pleasing manor. On the other hand you can go for a device like the one mentioned above that has no style, a port or slot for everything in your wifes purse that will soon be obsolete, and a design and engineering crew that had a brain f*** for a few years and then got surpassed by a computer company from Cupertino, Ca.

    "it looks ugly" wow

"It looks ugly". Wow. That's all Apple fanboys could come up with. Of course we have to be iFair to the fanboys. Most of them speak before they think, and are easily agitated by anything that gets in the way of the mighty iPhone. We have to give them some time to think of why exactly is the iPhone better than this phone. Ugliness (I don't think it's ugly, but who knows) as an argument isn't just stupid, it's iStupid.
