Apple updates Time Machine
Apple today released a combination update for Time Machine, bundling with it Airport driver fixes. What the update actually fixes is unclear, simply stating "This update is recommended for all users and includes compatibility improvements for using Time Machine with Time Capsule, as well as AirPort driver fixes." The update is available through Software Update under the Apple menu, but Apple has not released its typical accompanying web pages on its support site.
Update: Apple has made an appropriate page for the download.

Does this fix?

Hopefully this fixes the godawful issue my wife's MacBook Pro has about not being able to find my wireless network when it wakes up from sleep.

Also, I'm curious to find out if this is the 'Rush Limbaugh' update. He had Apple engineers work on an issue with Time Machine and Mail. I wonder if they incorporated that fix into this release, or if we're going to have to wait a while until that gets in.

Time machine for AirDisk
03/19, 08:40pm reply
This update includes AEBS firmware update 7.3.1 that at last officially supports TimeMachine backup to AEBS AirDisks. Nice to know that the early adopters weren't abandoned (although I've been using workarounds such as iTimeMachine to allow TimeMachine to use my AirDisk for 6 weeks or so). I'll be interested to see if the firmware update increases transfer speeds compared to the iTimeMachine hack.

It amazes me that people were willing to trust their backups to previous hacks. How safe do you feel now knowing that Apple had real reliability features preventing them from supporting TM and that your entire Mac was backed up using a hack?
If I used a hack, I'd consider reformatting and backing up from scratch.

Can the drive sleep now?

Before this update, drives attached to the AEBS were not allowed to spin down and sleep. Are they allowed to now? I don't like my drive to be constantly spinning when it's not mounted or in use.

Is it officially supported? As I can find nothing from Apple that says it is (then again, leave it to apple to add the feature and not let anyone know).
