Apple launches Safari 3.1
Continuing its spate of updates on Tuesdays, Apple has released Safari 3.1, the latest version of its proprietary web browser. The update supports the new audio and video tags of the HTML 5 standard, and is claimed to be the first browser with support for CSS animations, as opposed to static sheets. The software also introduces support for CSS web fonts, which gives designers the ability to pick custom styles without worrying about the ones a visitor already has.
Safari 3.1 is free for both Macs and PCs. The Mac version is a 39MB download, and requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or higher, along with 256MB of memory. Windows systems must have XP or Vista, and a 500MHz processor.

Noticeably faster

This thing seems to really fly. I don't know if it's just that the caches are flushed or whether they have improved the code but this 3.1 version of Safari is loading pages faster than I can ever recall.
Well done Apple.

Gee more garbage animations to block. How thoughtful. Still no bookmarks sort? I'm not a FFx guy but the Beta looks very good to me.
BTW correct terminology is Spinning Beachball. Seen my share of those. Sort of like "do you want to force quit?" Yeah, like I have any other option.

Mr. fartleberry... am I missing something ? [Quote: "Still no bookmarks sort ?" ]
Just click on the book icon on the upper left and just like in iTunes - you can organize / arrange / sort / list / move all your bookmarks till the cows come home. What "more" do you need ? What kinda "sort" is missing ?

Love the 'Command-F' function for searches of text within any webpage, and it highlights them. Very s***.
