Just downloaded it. Doesn't seem much faster than 3.0.x, which was pretty fast in itself.

I would probably switch back to Safari from Firefox if I could get adblocking working. None of the apps I have ever tried have worked.

I recently installed SafariBlock. It's in ~/Library/InputManagers but doesn't seem to do anything. There is supposed to be a panel added to Safari's prefs but it doesn't show up. Also, there's supposed to be an "adblock" contextual menu item. It's not there either.

Anyone have experience with this and any ideas? Actually none of the Safari input managers I have ever tried have worked.

No, its not any faster. Period. Restarting re-snappifies things somewhat, so i expect this is what people are reporting.

3.0 would always hang on the last couple items to load in a site(per status bar) for me its loading everything in record time. im very happy with it.

So, you want to block ads on free web sites, because you would rather pay for the content yourself?

Although if you just use it to block popups and the stupid ad on MacNN that says "Hellooooooooo?" when you mouse over it, I'd understand.

If you're running Leopard (you don't say), you can't put it there. InputManagers are only allowed in /Library/InputManagers. AND they need special permissions, IIRC.

And, haysek, people block ads on websites because they are the most annoying things on the web site. Most people probably are lazy and let the software block all ads. Personally, I block ads (and those damn annoying 'intellitext' links on MacNN) from sites that feel they must bombard me, while I leave them on other sites (MacInTouch, for example, is a way to do ads without driving people into epileptic fits).

Safari 3.0 had that feature, but they've improved the highlight in 3.1. Before, the highlighted words would block much of what was around them. For example, if the page read "The quick brown fox", and you searched for "brown", the 'k' in "quick" and 'f' in "fox" would be covered by the hightlight. Now, it's more subtle.

The s*** search has been there for a while now, it's not a 3.1 thing.

All is well with all my sites. Loads quickly. A definite improvement.
