InFocus IN83

InFocus unveiled its flagship home cinema projector Tuesday, the IN83, capable of reproducing full HD sources on screens or wall up to nearly 17 feet high. The new product also sports HDMI 1.3 inputs for Deep Color support, in addition to the 5,000:1 native contrast ratio, which can be boosted to 15,000:1 via an integrated iris.

Texas Instruments provides its latest display technology in the form of the IN83's DLP DarkChip4, which allows for greater brightness values while maintaining high contrast levels. InFocus claims the IN83 is capable of delivering 1600 ANSI lumens after a D6500K calibration for film-standard accuracy. On the video processing side, the IN83 uses the same Pixelworks DNX 10-bit video processing hardware InFocus had success with in its IN82 and IN70-series projectors.

In addition to the HDMI 1.3 input, which displays more than 1 billion colors with a compatible source, connections include DVI, component, VGA and InFocus' own M1 inputs, along with TV RCA connections and S-Video. A remote as well as a remote screen trigger are included. The IN83 is available now and priced at $6,000.
