Briefly: Meander, Alien Skin reviews

In brief: We have posted reviews of Meander and Alien Skin Exposure 2, a MacBook Air will be given away in the "My Mac Server" contest, a new site lets you find the 99 cent movies in iTunes, and a new London travel guide for iPods and iPhones has debuted ... We have posted a review of Meander, an inexpensive program created by Peacock Media that lets you to use your computer to what you would do normally with a highlighter and a ruler; draw routes on maps and measure distances. Computer route planning has several obvious advantages. For example, you can quickly and easily test different routes to find the best one, and you can measure distances more accurately with a mouse than with a ruler.

Alien Skin Exposure 2 review

We have posted a review of Alien Skin Exposure 2, an Adobe Photoshop plug-in that lets you bring the signature elements found in traditional film photography back to your digital photographs. The artistic merits of film, such as grain, manufacturer color tints, warmth, and soft focus, are almost impossible to generate digitally, but these photo enhancements aren’t gone forever, thanks to Exposure 2.

MacBook Air to be given away in "My Mac Server" contest

Macminicolo.net has announced the "My Mac Server Contest." The rules are simple. "Let us know how you'd use your Mac server. Will it be an exciting new web application? A hub for a new start-up or non-profit organization? Your own personal media server?" The winner will receive a brand new Mac mini in our data center, one year of free hosting, and a brand new Macbook Air to develop the project on. Macminicolo.net will decide on its favorite submission and will then announce the winner on the blog, FarAwayMac.com during the first half of April.

Find the 99 cent movies in iTunes

Damien Huze has put up a simple site that tracks which movies are available as 99 cent rental from the iTunes Store. Huze says he created the site "because I was having trouble finding a source that would update me when these movie specials came out. Every Tuesday iTunes offers a special rental price of 99 cents on a movie selection. This special price is available through the following Monday. We'll keep you updated on what that movie is every week."

London Travel Guide for iPods, iPhones

It packs a 400 page travel guide, hundreds of maps, pictures and some video footage into the world’s first travel guide of this type.
