Gameloft slips about first iPhone game?

updated 02:15 pm EST, Tue February 19, 2008

Gameloft iPhone games

Gameloft may have unintentionally let slip about the first downloadable iPhone game during CEO Michel Guillemot's keynote at the GDC Mobile conference. According to UK-based Pocket Gamer, the device was seen in several slides during the keynote presentation, featuring what the publication thinks is a game based on Sega's NiGHTS, or alternately an enhanced version of Pop Superstar. While the news is unofficial, Gameloft is a likely choice as a launch partner for iPhone games, due to the company's success with games on the iPod.

Apple has not said when custom content for the iPhone and iPod touch will be available. Late last year, CEO Steve Jobs said the iPhone software developer's kit would be available February, and the v1.1.3 firmware is said to lay the groundwork for custom applications.

Or this could just be a mockup to show that they want to get into iPhone games.

    iPhone SDK

Um, February is winding down with no hint at the iPhone SDK. Is it possible Apple gave select developers a head start on the SDK? It will likely take about 15 minutes between the release of the SDK and the release of games and new Apps,

    I totally agree.

doesn't make much sense to release the SDK and not have content immediately available. I'd wager some companies already have it so I expect new content via iTunes (some free some paid) the same day the SDK is released.
