Friday, February 15thAT&T mobile TV stalled for two to eight weeks?
The delay in AT&T's mobile digital TV service has been confirmed, says a claimed source. While a company roadmap the tip suggests that both "legal issues" as well as technical troubles with the MediaFLO digital TV tuning processor have pushed the release back by as little as two or as many as eight weeks beyond existing delays, possibly resulting in a mid-April release. An initial release had been set for just after the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
The source also reportedly confirms the use of the LG Vu, or CU920, as the inaugural AT&T TV device: it remains dominated by a touchscreen in the vein of the Prada and Viewty but adds the MediaFLO tuner for digital over-the-air broadcasts. A formal unveiling of both the Vu and the mobile TV feature is most likely to appear at or before the CTIA phone expo at the start of April.
Previous tips have suggested AT&T's service will compare very closely to Verizon's similar V CAST TV but will add two exclusive channels, bringing AT&T's launch programming up to a total of ten stations.
