Vara ships ScreenFlow

Vara Software today began shipping its ScreenFlow screencasting software package for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The software features screen, camera, and audio capture systems alongside advanced timeline-based editing features. Users can mix down a screencast with effects like 3D or 2D zoom and pan, mouse callouts, foreground window callouts, picture-in-picture, reflection, drop shadow, and more. ScreenFlow is priced at $100 and requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

ScreenFlow captures everything on screen and can simultaneously record with an iSight, DV or other QuickTime-compatible USB camera as well as any attached microphone. The application includes a custom system extension that allows seamless simultaneous capture of all computer audio.

Vara's screencasting software features a proprietary GPU-enhanced export scaling system to produce legible output even at high scaling factors, and can change the size of the mouse pointer or show a radar effect each time the mouse is clicked.

The Mouse Callout feature, meanwhile, highlights the area just around the mouse by dimming other areas on screen, and optionally zooming up the area just around the mouse.
