New Yahoo! Mail for Safari 3 debuts
Yahoo! has taken the wraps off a an upgrade for it's Mail system that includes better support for Safari 3. The rollout will take up to two weeks, but when it's done, Yahoo! says users running the most recent update of Tiger (OS 10.4.11), as well as those using any version of Leopard (OS 10.5.x) "will have a version of Safari that plays nice with the All-New Yahoo! Mail. Or maybe it’s a version of Safari that the All-New Mail plays nice with. Either way, they are pals now, and that’s what really matters." Presumably the new updates will work with Safari for Windows as well.
Mac users with Safari previously only had access Mail Classic. The Mac version of Firefox had access to both Classic and the new Yahoo! Mail.
A post to Yahoo!'s blog says "There are some other enhancements that aren’t Mac specific, so be on the lookout. I'll be back with more news on that soon."
Yahoo! recently dismissed a $44.6 billion takeover bid from Microsoft, setting the groundwork for a long conflict between the firms. The search firm's Board of Directors says it has unanimously rejected Microsoft's offer after believing that the deal "substantially undervalues" Yahoo's worth. The reputation associated with Yahoo's name, its user base, ad investments and finances are all worth more than what Microsoft has proposed, according to the statement.

I've migrated ALL of my IM services over to iChat except ¡Yahoo! and MSN_ Don't use MSN much anymore these days - but it would be cool if Yahoo! Chat began playing nice with either Google Talk or iChat_
