Dell posts teaser for XPS 630 game tower

Dell today provided a very early teaser for the XPS 630, its upcoming gaming desktop. Showcased in a very limited form at CES, the mid-tower is now known to bear a stronger resemblance to the range-topping XPS 720 with wide open venting for cooling high-performance parts. External colored lighting should also be present and more conspicuous than for the top-end system.

No specifications have been leaked, though the system is likely to use higher-end 45 nanometer Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, and potentially Core 2 Extreme processors as well as newer ATI Radeon HD and NVIDIA GeForce 8- or 9-series video cards. The teaser makes no mention of a release date, though it promises a discount to customers who register for information ahead of the actual announcement. Starting prices should fall in between the $999 of the XPS 420 and the $1,500 of the XPS 720.
