Nikon D60 to be first 'Eye-Fi Connected' camera

Nikon's new D60 SLR, announced just yesterday, will additionally be one of the first cameras to be a part of Eye-Fi's Connected program, the latter company has announced. Eye-Fi produces self-named Wi-Fi memory cards, which allow people to copy data without removing a card from a device; this involves a special configuration process, which sets up automatic transfers. Files can not only be sent to computers, but websites such as Facebook and Flickr.

Through the Connected program, the D60 should receive a pair of enhancements. Users will first of all be able to send images directly to Nikon's my Picturetown service, an option normally reserved for the company's Wi-Fi-enabled compacts. More crucially, the camera will automatically detect the presence of Eye-Fi cards, and adjust its internal power timer settings to smooth out the upload process. The D60 should ship by February.

I'm already using an Eye-Fi card in my D40x. The only difference I can see is it automatically prevents the camera from powering off when sending. I had to change the power saver timer manually just once with the same result.
