Treo 800w CDMA Spec Leak

Specifications for a version of the Treo 800w running on CDMA phone networks have slipped out with new details about the device as a whole, according to a leak. While a version for GSM networks such as AT&T and Vodafone has already been spotted, the new device would support service for carriers such as Sprint and Verizon and would also bring faster EVDO Revision A mobile Internet access that provides as much as 1.4 megabits per second in real download speeds. Rather than true GPS, however, the tip hints at assisted GPS using either EVDO or the phone's 802.11g Wi-Fi connection to help fix a location.

The revamped phone would also carry double the memory of past Treos at 256MB and should use a microSD card slot for storage rather than Palm's once preferred choice of miniSD. Windows Mobile 6.0 will come standard but should be upgradeable to 6.1 to take advantage of a new front-end interface as well as copy-and-paste and other additions to the Microsoft phone OS. A 2-megapixel camera is also reported.

The Treo 800w's release date and choice of carrier have not been named with the alleged information, though past claims have suggested that both Sprint and Verizon are working at the same to introduce the phone and will have it ready for mid-year. The new source currently argues for an April launch window.
